Il a particip\u00e9 avec les docteurs Nicholas Lubega et Nyengo Mkandawire, chirurgiens en T&amp;O au Malawi, \u00e0 la r\u00e9union d&rsquo;\u00e9valuation des besoins en novembre 2014. Il a supervis\u00e9 et encadr\u00e9 la construction de deux nouvelles salles d&rsquo;op\u00e9ration, les Mafupa ORs, au QECH.<\/p>\n<p>En tant que directeur g\u00e9n\u00e9ral de l&rsquo;AO Alliance, j&rsquo;ai appris \u00e0 conna\u00eetre Jes. Il a \u00e9galement \u00e9t\u00e9 pr\u00e9sident du comit\u00e9 d\u2019orientation \u00e0 Blantyre et mes voyages r\u00e9guliers au Malawi ont permis une \u00e9troite collaboration. Jes Bates est un chirurgien dou\u00e9 et il reste un mentor\/enseignant pour de nombreux chirurgiens malawites en T&amp;O qui ont suivi le programme de formation du QECH. Il reste un ami cher.<\/p>\n<p>Une r\u00e9ception d&rsquo;adieu a \u00e9t\u00e9 organis\u00e9e le 15 f\u00e9vrier 2022 \u00e0 Blantyre. De nombreux proches collaborateurs ont rendu hommage au docteur Bates. Il est rentr\u00e9 au Royaume-Uni avec sa femme au d\u00e9but du mois d&rsquo;avril 2022 et se trouve actuellement sur son voilier en train de planifier son prochain voyage en mer.<\/p>\n<p>Jes,
