AO Alliance and Essity hold two workshops at ORTHOCON 2023 in Nepal

On February 17 and 18, 2023, the AO Alliance and Essity organized two workshops for trauma and orthopedic surgeons and residents during ORTHOCON in Butwal, Nepal.
The first workshop, on the Ponseti method for the treatment of clubfoot, attracted 25 participants. The workshop included three lectures, video presentations, and practical exercises allowing the young doctors to get hands-on experience applying plaster casts on deformed synthetic foot models. Drs Ramesh Prasad Singh, Prakriti Raj Kandel, Kishore Man Shrestha, and Vijayendra Adhikari led and taught the event.
The proximal femoral nail antirotation for Asia (PFNA-II) workshop followed the same format and also drew 25 participants. The AO Alliance supplied locally purchased instrument sets for use by the participants during the practical exercises. Dr Vijayendra Adhikari led the session with support from Drs Ramesh Prasad Singh and Alok Pandey.
Feedback from the participants for both events was overwhelmingly positive. The participants found the workshops to be informative, engaging, and well structured. They especially enjoyed the practical component of the training.
ORTHOCON is the Nepal Orthopedic Association’s annual conference, organized in collaboration with the Orthopaedic Association of SAARC (South Asian) Countries (OASAC). Prof Ramesh Prasad Singh, President of OASAC, is also chair of the AO Alliance steering committee for Asia and a long-time faculty member.
