The 2024 Annual Report is online
We are pleased to announce the publication of the 2024 Annual Report, showcasing the AO Alliance’s ongoing efforts to reduce suffering, disability, and poverty in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) by improving fracture care. For over a decade, the AO Alliance has advanced this mission across 30+ countries in sub-Saharan Africa and Asia through sustainable, locally driven education, training, and advocacy.
Over the past year, the AO Alliance supported the training of more than 9,000 healthcare workers across 36 countries. These efforts are part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to strengthening local capacity for managing musculoskeletal injuries in resource-constrained environments.
In 2024, the AO Alliance also developed seven clinical guidelines specifically tailored for low-resource settings. These guidelines, designed to improve standards of care and clinical decision-making, have been endorsed by leading regional surgical colleges in Africa.
The traditional bonesetter training program continues to expand its reach, demonstrating measurable improvements in patient outcomes by equipping bonesetters with essential knowledge and skills, while fostering collaboration with formal healthcare systems.
