Trainer Workshop for operating room personnel delivered in Sri Lanka

The AO Alliance held a Clinical Training Module (CTM) Trainer Workshop in Colombo, Sri Lanka, on 13–14 June 2026, bringing together 20 participants from 13 hospitals across the country.

The two-day workshop was designed to prepare faculty members to deliver AO Alliance Clinical Training Modules—hands-on educational events conducted within healthcare facilities to strengthen competency-based trauma and orthopedic clinical practice for operating room personnel.

The workshop focused on equipping participants with the knowledge and teaching skills required to facilitate Clinical Training Modules using the AO’s seven principles of education. Through interactive sessions and practical exercises, participants explored learner-centered teaching methods and approaches to delivering effective, competency-based clinical training in their own institutions.

The event was led by educator Susanne Bauerle (Germany), together with Channoeun Gnan (Cambodia) and Rasika Piyasinghe (Sri Lanka), who guided participants through the educational framework and practical application of the Clinical Training Module program.

By training local faculty to lead future Clinical Training Modules, the workshop supports the continued development of clinical education capacity and aims to strengthen the quality of trauma and orthopedic care in healthcare facilities across Sri Lanka.
